Since I arrived in New York City in 1961 at the age of 6, I became aware of the growing Latino population but also of the growing Latinization of the American nation as a whole. During my cultural emergence in American Society I was enlightened in the need to bridge culture and ethnic barriers and thus communications has not just become the mere translation of words but of ideas and concepts. Thus translation of these ideas is the takes into account of the culture and social values of those not native to the United States.
As a high school student I witnessed the tension and stress of urban society as well the as the social and ethnic problems caused as communities changed with the growing social immigration. As President of the Cuban Student Federation of New Jersey, I also became aware of the culture and social Latino tastes and flavors that young Latinos were maintaining and in many cases demanding to maintain. Latino deculturalization would not occur. In my early college years I became very politically aware of the needs of this emerging cultural group second only in their presence in North America to the Native American Indian population. These Latinos were becoming the largest ethnic group for the new 21st Century thus changing the face of the American nation and the future of political power in this great nation. I found that basic social and legal concepts of American society would be of great value to the growing Latino population. These basic rights and concepts I set forth to translate and communicate to my Latino peer group as well as my elders.
I founded many organizations but my greatest accomplishment was founding the First National Latin Fraternity, Lambda Theta Phi in my freshman year of college. Evolution is the means of averting Revolution (Social stress and Conflict). We are a nation of communication and social interaction with no class barriers that promote social walls. When I graduated from college I became further aware the need of translating ideas and concepts, not just simply words.
As I embarked on my law enforcement and governmental regulatory career, the concept the law and the rights of man further enlighten me on the need to bridge ethnic communities. This I believed was the basic principle to maintain the basic rights proposed and defended by the founders of this great American Nation. As years proceeded through numerous and local, state and federal court battles and political crusades I have enlighten the Latino community that we not only inherit the great commercial and economic power/concepts of the American nation but also maintain it’s consumer and social rights.
Garcorp International which comes from Garcia Corporation is based on a philosophy of social, political and ethnic interaction based on respect of culture and most important on a respect of rights. I have earned my awards and recognition throughout this social experience but the accomplishments are the monuments to my success.
“One man’s rights is every man’s justice.”
